I have already received my MATERIAL ETHER cold wallet, what’s next?

The first thing you should do when you receive your wallet is to check that both the packaging and the mnemonic seed sticker for your card have not been tampered and are in perfect condition.

We send your Material Ether wallet in a sealed package, and inside you’ll find the card in a heat-sealed bag to ensure that you are the first person to open it.

Your card is active from the moment it arrives, so you can add ether in it from day one.

Let us know if your package or the bag is open when it arrives.

How does my MATERIAL ETHER purse work?

The mnemonic seed or Seed Phrase:

Your Ether wallet  has a mnemonic seed, or Seed Phrase, which is unique in the world, protected by a metallic sticker. This seed is equivalent to owning the Ether of the wallet, so keep it protected!

The mnemonic seed itself is the only thing you need to transfer your Ether to another address. You are the only person who knows the mnemonic seed engraved in your Material Ether wallet.

Therefore:

• Never allow anyone to memorize, copy or photograph your mnemonic seed.
• Do not lose your cold wallet.
• Do not allow anyone to take your wallet.
• Never enter your mnemonic seed on a web page.

In all these cases, you will irreversibly lose control of your funds.

The address:

The address functions as the identification of your wallet. Anyone, including yourself, can use it to send Ether to your wallet.

You can also use it to check your funds or transaction history. The address itself is a piece of information that anyone can see or that you can enter without fear on any website.

Where exactly is your ether?

Your Material Ether wallet has no electronic components and no Internet connection, so your ether cannot physically be on your wallet; however, every ether deposited to your wallet address is registered on thousands of computers. This is how the Ethereum blockchain works.

Your ether is absolutely yours. It is yours as much as the money you may have in the bank (which, like Ethereum, is not really in the bank, since it’s just a note on the bank’s computer). And there’s no better way to own them.

You can be sure that your ether is safe because, across thousands of computers synchronized with each other, anyone who checks will be shown that your ether is on your wallet.

Does my MATERIAL ETHER come with crypto?

If you just received it, you don’t have crypto yet.

Remember that the Material Ether cold wallet is designed to hold ether on the Ethereum Mainnet.

How do I buy ether for my Ethereum cold wallet?

You can buy Ether on any exchange site and send it to your wallet.

*Make sure that when sending your ether you select the ERC-20 network, this step is very important, otherwise you may lose your ether.*

How do I send ether to my  MATERIAL ETHER wallet?

Once you purchased ether, you need to send it to the address engraved on the Material Ether wallet.

1. You can do this from your exchange account in the send funds section, by entering your wallet address as the recipient address, or by scanning the QR.

2. You must go to your profile in the exchange where you have your ether and select the button ” withdrawal“, “Withdraw funds” or something similar.

3. Then you must select Ether (or Ethereum), indicate the amount you want to withdraw, select the ERC-20 network and click on withdraw.

4.Then you will need to scan or type in the public address of your wallet. If you are going to type it by hand, make sure you write it correctly. Remember that one wrong letter or number, and you lose everything.

How do I check the balance on my MATERIAL ETHER cold wallet?

You can enter the address of your Material Ether wallet (never the mnemonic seed!) in a search engine (like blockchair.com) to check your balance.

How do I get some or all of the ether from my wallet to another address?

The purpose of Material Ether is that you never need to send your ETH to another address, since the address on your wallet is 100% secure against hacking (unless you show your mnemonic seed around).

If you still want to change your ether from one address to another, you have to import your private key into a trusted ether wallet manager (such as My Ether Wallet, Metamask or Exodus) on your mobile or computer.

How do I change the ether on my MATERIAL ETHER to my preferred currency?

To perform any operation with the ether stored on your Material Ether wallet, you need to import the mnemonic seed of your Material Ether wallet into a compatible wallet manager, such as Exodus or Metamask.

Be aware that once the mnemonic seed on your wallet makes contact with an electronic device, you are exposing control of your money; and it is only as secure or insecure as the equipment you are using. Remember to delete the seed from the applications!

As soon as you have your ethereum in your My Ether Wallet, Metamask or Exodus account, you can send it to the account you have in any exchange (Kraken, Coinbase…). From the exchange you will be able to convert the ether to your desired currency without any problem.

How do I make a payment in Ether?

You need to import the mnemonic seed of your Material Ether wallet into a compatible wallet management software such as My Ether Wallet, Metamask or Exodus. Be sure to perform this operation on a secure computer that you can fully trust.

What does the information on my plate mean?

On the front side you will find:

Public address: used to identify your wallet and check the balance on your plate.

Address QR: used to receive or consult funds by scanning it.

On the reverse side you will find:

Protective metallic vinyl: will help you keep your mnemonic seed hidden.

The mnemonic seed: is the one that allows you to spend your ether or take it elsewhere. It is very important that only you have access to this seed.

My mnemonic seed has rust, is my plate in good condition?

Your wallet is fine. It is residue from the laser marking.

When we mark a plate, the laser generates residues when it hits the steel with such a highly concentrated and precise beam of energy.

We immediately cover the mnemonic seed with a metallic sticker, so that it is not visible to anyone, not even our technicians. That’s why the plate doesn’t look so pretty in that part.

The rest of the plate has no residue because we clean it thoroughly.

If you want, you can also clean your plate with soap and water, or even better, with an alcohol swab. If you persist with alcohol, you will see that you will leave the mnemonic seed part also perfect.

What is the difference between the mnemonic seed and address in my MATERIAL ETHER?

The address is public data. You can give it to anyone without fear.

In fact, you can check the balance history of all Ethereum addresses in the world, including the address of your Material Ether wallet, on the Ethereum blockchain, which is public. There are numerous websites that allow you to do this conveniently.

In contrast, the mnemonic seed is private in nature. It is the passkey to access your ether. It serves to be able to transfer the money to another Ethereum address. Therefore, it is very important that only you know the mnemonic seed and keep it hidden and protected.

Never show your mnemonic seed to anyone. Never allow anyone to take a picture of it, let alone enter it on a website.
