What is  MATERIAL SHADOW?

Material Shadow is a version of our Material Bitcoin wallet with several changes for anyone who wants extra security. Below, I will tell you what these changes are:

  • The full address of your Material Shadow wallet is only on the QR code located on the front of the wallet. On the right side of the QR are the first and last 4 digits so that only you know if this is your address when sending and receiving money.

  • There is no reference to bitcoin on the wallet. We have done this so that if, at some point, someone finds your wallet, they won’t have any clue of what it is.
  • The most remarkable feature: it’s split in two! We’ve made this split version so you don’t have to worry about your badge being stolen. Without the two halves, not only will NOBODY be able to access the bitcoins in your address, but they won’t be able to scan the QR to see how many bitcoins are there (they won’t even be able to see which address it is).

I have already received my MATERIAL SHADOW, now what?

The first step after receiving your wallet is to check that both the packaging and the private key sticker on your wallet are in perfect condition and have not been tampered. “We send your Material Shadow wallet to you in a sealed package. Inside there is half of your wallet in a heat-sealed bag to verify that only you have opened it. The other half of it can be delivered in a separate shipping, if you want maximum security.

The package also contains the Material Bitcoin Portable edition, which is a wallet that only contains your public address and a QR code, but no private key. You can carry this one with you without any risk, as if you lose it, you won’t lose the access to your bitcoin.

In the event that your package or the bag containing the wallet is opened or manipulated when it arrives, please let us know.

From the moment it lands on your hands and you are free to fill bitcoins up in it as soon as you wish.

I’ve received my MATERIAL SHADOW, but only the half of it. Why?

If you chose it like that when you added your wallet to the cart, as a security measure, we’ll send you the two halves of the wallet in sepparated shipments so it won’t be possible to manipulate your wallet during shipment. They’ll arrive in two different envelopes and you different carriers.

As you can see, we take your wallet security very serious and we’ll take any precautions possible.

Why is the address not visible?

Another measure we have taken is to remove the public address from the license plate.

Does that mean I don’t know what my address is?

No, the address is on the QR on in the center of the plate. You can see the address by scanning the QR on our balance checker or on blockchair.com, where you will know what your address is and what is your history balance and current funds on your plate.

At the same time, your Material Shadow wallet comes with a Portable Material Bitcoin where you will have just the full address with the QR.

What is the MATERIAL BITCOIN PORTABLE edition?

The Material Bitcoin Portable is a small metallic card that you can carry in your wallet, without compromising your funds as it only has the address and the QR of the address engraved on the front of the wallet.

We say that you do not compromise your funds as the private key is only engraved on the back of your Material Shadow wallet.

Here is how the Material Bitcoin Portable looks like:

What happens if I lose the  PORTABLE MATERIAL BITCOIN?

Absolutely nothing happens. As only the public address is engraved, the only thing you can do with the Portable Material Bitcoin is to receive payments and check your balance.

The private key is only engraved on the back of your Material Shadow wallet and, as it is split in two, you need both halves to be able to see the full private key.

If my  MATERIAL SHADOW is stolen, do I lose my funds?

As previously explained your funds are 100% safe. In order to access your funds you need the full private key, and for that you need to put the two halves of the wallet together.

Securing the two pieces of your wallet separately keeps your crypto assets protected in case of a robbery or burglary.

How do I send bitcoin to my wallet?

Once you purchased bitcoin, you must use  the address engraved on the front of your Material Shadow wallet to send your bitcoin.

You can send bitcoin to your wallet directly with us at this link.

You can also do this from your exchange account via the send funds section, by entering the address on your wallet as the recipient address or by scanning the QR.

How do I withdraw bitcoin from my  MATERIAL SHADOW?

The purpose of Material Shadow is that you never need to send your bitcoin to another address, since the address on your wallet is 100% secure against hacking (unless your private key is compromised).

If you still want to withdraw your bitcoin from your wallet to another one, you have to import your private key into a trusted bitcoin wallet manager (such as Electrum, BlueWallet…) on your mobile or computer.

It’s a delicate process, but it won’t take much time. Click here for a step-by-step guide on how to withdraw bitcoin from your wallet using your computer or smartphone.

How do I check the balance of my  MATERIAL SHADOW?

Using the address on your badge (or the QR directly):

You can enter the address of your Material Shadow wallet (never the private key!) into a search engine (such as blockchair.com) to check your balance.

If you find it more convenient, use a mobile app such as Blue Wallet (Android) or Satpile (iOS). With it you can scan the QR of your Material Shadow wallet directly and not only see your bitcoin balance, but also its current equivalent in euros or dollars.

Warning: Never enter the private key of your Material Shadow wallet on a web page. If you do, you will irreversibly lose control of your funds.
